Athan Merrick

Athan is a graduate from the University of British Columbia Film Production Program, where he also minored in Philosophy. He specialized in cinematography while in school, shooting many projects on Super 16mm, HD, and DV. He is a passionate skier racking up 4 top 5 finishes at big mountain competitions while being a full time student. He has been published in Powder, The Ski Journal, Backcountry, Fall Line Skiing, Off Piste, Brant, and Fluid Magazine. During the off-season he works as a lighting technician in the film and television industry. Athan was awarded the 2008 Amateur Cinematographer of the Year at the Powder Video Awards and Best Student Cinematography at the 2009 Vancouver Short Film Festival.
